Okay, now that I have your attention, mac people… We’re coming up on the end of my first week at CSI as their “Multimedia Designer” (the official title, I found out). They already have me redesigning and reorganizing their intranet, which was in a complete mess when I got there. Fun stuff. No really… fun stuff. :)

I’m still decorating the office in my downtime, so I’ll share pics of my new career-home next week.

It works. Don't wince yet, it's not that bad.

My diet. It works. Don't wince yet, it's not that bad.:
Anytime I want to lose weight and do it quickly, I come back to this one. Mostly because it doesn’t feel like a diet. And because it helps refocus the purpose of food… from “social” and “entertainment” to, well… fuel. But mostly because it doesn’t feel like a diet.

1) Don’t eat things that are (or can be) white. Bread, pasta, rice, cereal, potatoes, and fried foods with breading.

2) Eat the same few meals over and over again, picking one from each of the groups below for each meal:

Proteins:
Egg whites with one whole egg for flavor
Chicken breast or thigh
Grass-fed organic beef
Pork

Legumes:
Lentils
Black beans
Pinto beans

Vegetables:
Spinach
Asparagus
Peas
Mixed vegetables

3) Don’t drink calories. Drink lots of water, and as much unsweetened tea, diet sodas, coffee (w/o cream), etc. Don’t drink milk, normal soft drinks, or fruit juice.

4) Take a “Dieters Gone Wild” day once a week. Eat whatever you want on this day (wake up to sleeping, less than 24 hours). Ice cream, snickers, and a dozen doughnuts from Krispy Kreme are all fair game. The idea is to spike your caloric intake for a short amount of time, thus keeping your metabolic rate from downregulating from extended caloric restriction. Plus, it makes you sick of your cravings, so you stick to the plan 6 days a week. :)

1) Ideal weight: 190.

2) Run a 5k race before 2011.

3) Be open to new friendships as God allows our paths to cross.

4) Be kind. As a character trait, be kind. Always be kind.

5) Take the trash out.

6) Kill my fear of heights. This will probably require skydiving… Yikes.

7) Take time out to create, paint, etc. Do it for myself. Do it often.

Seven sounds ideal. Ten seems like some would slip through the cracks, and five seems skimpy. This about covers it.

PS: Celesta suggested the skydiving. Therefore, she will be joining me.

Meet Flicker, the newest addition to the apartment/studio. He...

Meet Flicker, the newest addition to the apartment/studio. He lives in a blender.

ENTER WALLFLOWER. I’m on ApartmentTherapy’s website, when I see this intriguing little contraption called a WALLFLOWER. Turns out, designers Jonas & Jonas make an entire line of stuff like this. Very cool. Kind of “urban-nomad”…

The Perfect Valentine's Day Gift

The Perfect Valentine's Day Gift:
Wow… they really did it.

State Of The Union Address

State Of The Union Address:
For those of you who missed the oh-so-insightful speech (which, when you get past Obama’s public speaking skills, was a Bush-bashing push for socialism)… here it is, verbatim.

Try not to toss your cookies. He’ll claim them for the government.

And, I quote, “Rather than fight the same tired battles… it’s time to try something new. Let’s invest in our people without leaving them a mountain of debt. Let’s try common sense… “

Please, Obama. Let’s. Let’s try not speaking out both sides of our mouths. You go first.
